About Monaro Post/Jindabyne Summit Sun

The weekly Cooma based Monaro Post and Jindabyne Summit Sun newspapers cover news and events from across the Snowy Monaro Region. It is produced to prepress stage in Cooma and printed in Wangaratta. The newspaper is distributed across the Snowy Monaro Regional Council region and down through the Far South Coast.

Monaro Media Group publishers a range of special publications throughout the year including the award-winning Snowpost magazine. The company also produces the monthly Snowy Monaro Farmer and annual South Coast Life.

All publications can be access through our website or via an electronic subscription service as a digital edition.

Our History

Monaro Post’s first edition was published on September 13, 2006. This weekly independent newspaper quickly grew from an original 24-page publication to today’s version, which averages over 40 pages.

In September 2021, The Monaro Post celebrated our 15th birthday. Throughout its first 10 years, the newspaper notched up several milestones and achievements.

The business was named the Best Small Business of the Year in the Small Business Awards of 2008. It was a state finalist in those awards in 2007 and 2009.

A regular competitor in the NSW Country Press Awards, The Monaro Post has won awards for its technical excellence, presentation, news content and special features. Its sister publication the Snowpost has also won NSW Country Press Award accolades.

The Monaro Post also won the award for Excellence in Small Business 11-19 employees at the Snowy Monaro Business awards held in May 2018.

In July 2022, fourth generation regional news publisher North East Media acquired the Monaro Media Group.

In February 2023 the company re- launched the Jindabyne Summit Sun as an extension of The Post, to expand news, sport, and information from the Snowy Mountains region.
