Early taste of bushfire season near Bunyan

  • Flames leapt above the fenceline alongside the highway.
  • Cooma and Bredbo RFS units responded to the fire.
  • The highway was impacted as smoke obscured motorists’ vision.

    Local Rural Fire Service (RFS) brigades responded to a grass fire near Murrells Road, Bunyan at around 2pm on Thursday September 16, after a landowner conducting a legal and notified hazard reduction burn called the RFS to inform them that the burn had escaped their control.
