14 August 1923 – 8 September 2020
The Chief left us on Tuesday 8 September. It could not have been more peaceful. At 97 it was, as he’d say, ‘ a great innings’. He’d lived in Sydney for the past four years but spent most of his adult life in his beloved Cooma, firstly as head of the Property Office at the Snowy Mountains Authority in charge, among other things, of moving the townships of Adaminaby and Jindabyne. He was always a most active contributor to the Cooma community. He had a big hand in the development of the Sir William Hudson and Yallambee nursing homes and spent several years as Deputy Mayor. Dad was also a grazier and land-valuer, familiar with every backroad across the district. Above all, he was a loved and respected man, adored by many including his dear friend Dort Tynan. His wife Sonia predeceased him and they leave three children Steven, Vivienne and Roslyn, their grandchildren Daniel, Christopher, Tom, Georgina, Sam, Alex, Ellen and Ben and great-grandchildren Chase and Phillipa.
Goodbye dear friend.
