Last weekend the Cooma Monaro Historical Automobile Club hosted the Surf to Summit Rally. Car enthusiasts travelled from as far as, Victoria, Sydney and Wollongong to take part in the two-day event which began at the Cooma Car Club. The rally was open to cars over 30 years old or replicas thereof. Among the 80 registered cars were 22 Cobras. On Saturday, the rally drove from Cooma to the coast, stopping in at Candelo Showground for a morning tea provided by Candelo Public School. The rally then travelled to the Seahorse Inn at Eden for lunch and stopped off at the Bombala Engine Rally before returning to Cooma. On Sunday morning, they set off from Cooma to Eucumbene Dam, where they commemorated Remembrance Day. The Eucumbene Cove Progress Association provided morning tea at the dam wall. After lunch at Cabramurra, the rally headed back to Cooma to conclude the weekend’s activities. The Surf to Summit is a biennial event now in its 10th year. In beginnings, it was an annual event, but now alternates years with the Motorfest.
