JCS Student, Lilly-Beth, is going to America!

Jindabyne Central School student and resident of Berridale, 13-year-old, Lilly-Beth Carnell, has just received news that due to her high achievements at State Level for her involvement in various sports she has been invited to represent Australia in the United States.

Sports Travel Australia will be taking Lilly to USA for two weeks where she will take her running skills to the next level in Las Vegas, Nevada and surrounding areas, a once in a lifetime opportunity and a huge achievement for a young school girl in a small town.

Lilly received a letter from the school which read, ‘By achieving predetermined standards of various state championships athletes qualify for participation in our program. The standards are relevant to the competition conducted in America. Invitations are distributed through schools as the schools are the only point of contact we have for athletes, the school name is also obtained from the results of various state competitions.’

Coming from the small town of Penrose in NSW and relocating to Berridale only 15 months ago the family is very well known amongst the Berridale and Jindabyne community.

“In Penrose, it was such a small town everyone knew everyone so Lilly would just run around the town and everyone would keep an eye on her,” Lilly’s mother, Lauren, said.
