Volunteer fire fighter Vern Dunning of Cooma Rural Fire Brigade, has been awarded NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) Life Member.
Mr Dunning has been an active member of the Association since its inception more than 20 years ago with a long history of participating in RFSA meetings, programs and initiatives. He has invested considerable time and effort into facilitating the Association’s support of fellow members and their families.
Mr Dunning said he initially became involved in the RFSA to aid communication between volunteers and the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS).
“Previous to the formation of the RFSA, I was a member the old Fire Control Officers’ Association. I could see how much the effectiveness of local brigades was influenced by the quality of support from and communication with their local government.
