Cooma based photographer Charles Davis has just returned from Adelaide where he took home first prize in the portfolio category of the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the year awards.
The Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year awards are held in collaboration with the South Australian Museum and look at the best photos showcasing the nature and landscapes of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea. The portfolio category considers the full body of work of a photographer and selects the winner based on six of their photos. Charles entered seven photos into the competition and won the portfolio category based on his photos of the native wildlife of the Snowy Mountains as well as pictures of endangered species such as the Eastern Quoll, earning him a $1000 prize.
